Prof Spahr is Head of Discipline Restorative and Reconstructive Dentistry and Subject Area Periodontics as well as Deputy Head of School at The University of Sydney Dental School. He is also Head of the Department Periodontics at the Sydney Dental Hospital.

Axel is the former Head of Periodontics at the University of Ulm in Germany and has worked at various international universities and research facilities. He has additional training in microbiology, molecular biology, extensive experience in basic science research, animal research and clinical research. Prof. Spahr’s research interest includes periodontal regeneration, bone regeneration, periodontitis and systemic diseases, antimicrobial therapy as well as dental implants and peri-implant diseases. He has led large externally funded research projects and is collaborating with leading international research groups and companies in the field of periodontology, implantology and bone regeneration. He is the author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed dental and medical journals, book chapters and has presented his work at professional conferences worldwide. Prof. Spahr is a board registered periodontal specialist, he works part-time in an established specialist periodontal and implant practice in Sydney and is the past President of the Periodontal Research Group of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), the International College of Dentists (ICD), and the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA).

Prof Meyers is a general dental practitioner and an honorary professor at The University of Queensland School of Dentistry. Over the last thirty-five years, he has been involved in dental research, clinical dentistry, private practice, university and hospital-based dental clinics. He is fellow of the International College of Dentists, Academy of Dentistry International, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Among his previous positions are the inaugural Colgate Chair of Dental General Practice Dentistry, Chief Dental Officer for Queensland Health, and President of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Dental Association. In January 2017 he commenced in the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Dental Association (Queensland).

Throughout his career as an academic, and as a clinical general dental practitioner, Ian Meyers has developed extensive experience in comprehensive patient care, diagnosis and management of worn and broken down dentition, geriatric and aged care dentistry, adhesive restorative dentistry and dental materials, and the management of patients through minimum intervention dentist.

Geraldine-Moses

Geraldine Moses is a Doctor of Clinical Pharmacy specialising in drug information.

As well as providing a national drug information advisory service called “Pharma-Advice” for members of the Australian Dental Association, Geraldine also works part-time in the Academic Practice Unit of the Mater Public Hospital in Brisbane and is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Schools of Pharmacy at University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. She also consults to organisations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, NPS MedicineWise, the Commission for Safety in Quality in Health Care and the New Zealand Dental Association.

A well-known educator and speaker, Geraldine has received many awards including in 2002 she was named Australian Pharmacist of the Year, in 2013 she received ADAQ’s Medal of Merit, and in 2019 she was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for for services to health care as a pharmacist.

His interests lie in the field of functional head and neck rehabilitation, advanced digital technologies in craniofacial reconstruction, dental implant protocols and development. A/Prof Howes’s research has resulted in innovative implant products on the international market which have revolutionised some head and neck reconstructive as well as standard implant rehabilitative protocols.

With his translational research he has developed innovative implant fixtures, components and protocols to solve hard and soft tissue constraints in patients compromised by head and neck trauma and cancer.

He has lectured extensively worldwide and supervised Masters and PhD projects, been an external examiner nationally and internationally as well as publishing research and book chapters in fields including head and neck cancer rehabilitation, implant dentistry, occlusion and biomechanics.

Derek Mahony

Derek Mahony is a Sydney based Specialist Orthodontist who has spoken to thousands of practitioners about the benefits of interceptive orthodontic treatment. Early in his career Dr Mahony learned from leading clinicians the dramatic effect functional appliance therapy can afford patients in orthodontic treatment. He has been combining the fixed and functional appliance approach ever since. His lectures are based on the positive impact such a combined treatment approach has had on his orthodontic results and the benefits this philosophy provides from a practice management viewpoint.

Dr Mahony has been seeing an average of 250 patients per week for the last decade and has gained a vast amount of experience which he can pass on to clinicians so that they can come to appreciate the key elements of his combined treatment approach. He is considered by some to be the "next leading lecturer on functional/fixed orthodontics." Dr Mahony will provide a stimulating presentation for clinicians wishing to advance their treatment results via a simplistic step by step approach.

Dr Marina Kamel is a specialist periodontist based at Westside Perio and Implants in Brisbane, Australia. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2012. Thereafter, she completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) and specialist training in implant dentistry at the University of Sydney, Australia in 2019. She was awarded a membership with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS) in the Periodontics specialty as well as obtaining fellowship (FRACDS) in general dental practice.

Dr Kamel was awarded the prestigious FG Christensen medal for obtaining the highest ranking in the primary RACDS examinations across Australasia.
