Topic: Precision and Efficiency in Restorative Dentistry - the Advantages of Injection Moulding Technique

Speaker: Dr RL Halili-Castillo

Synopsis

In integrating injection moulding technique in restorative dentistry, a conservative solution can be employed and makes creating beautiful aesthetics and long-lasting restorations achievable, predictable and fully repairable chairside. The Injection Moulding Technique allows the clinician to transfer anatomical details from a wax-up to the mouth. The use of a clear silicone material as a stent enables the accurate replication of the template from the wax-up producing beautiful aesthetic results with ease and total control. With the use of an injectable composite, creating smile transformation is possible without carrying out extensive dental procedures to achieve ceramic-like restorations. This technique is patient-driven and minimally invasive approach is made possible by utilising innovative materials in direct restorative dentistry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to carry out the injection moulding technique in common clinical applications.
  • Discuss how to prepare teeth for effective composite bonding.
  • Discuss clinical tips and tricks to achieve excellent and predictable results.
  • Learn simplified polishing protocol to achieve ceramic-like finish.
